I don’t find this amusing in the slightest, and I’m not really sure why anyone does.
The Ground Zero mosque issue is about the fact that nearly three thousand people died because Muslim extremists decided to attack the World Trade Center for religious reasons. It is insensitive, inappropriate, and simply rude to allow a mosque to be built there, because it gives the appearance that not only do we not care about the cause or victims of the attack, but that by allowing it to be built there despite what happened we are sanctioning it.
Timothy McVeigh was one man with his own reasons for attacking in Oklahoma City, none of which were religious. He explicitly stated that his motivation was to get revenge “for what the U.S. government did at Waco and Ruby Ridge”. The Oklahoma City bombing was a massive tragedy, yes. But it was not perpetrated by Christian extremists for reasons based on their beliefs, and therefore this comic is not only inaccurate but defamatory as well.
